All Around Town
Lots of interesting food news cooking out there. I'll be honest, sometimes I have to pass stories off to folks who are in the business of reporting, but here's a little bit to keep you going:
Where There's Smoke, There's Fire: While they're currently open for business, the saga with 56th St. Fish Market isn't over. As with all good stories, there's a lot more to this one -- and more than likely the reason for all the rumors. Look for more information in the next couple of weeks and if it shows up in another venue, I'll post pointers.
Dodd's Goeth, Binkley's Cometh? For those of us who drive up and down Meridian Street most days, we've all been curious about the renovations at the former Dodd's Townhouse restaurant. We hear it will be a new Binkley's location to open later this year complete with outdoor seating. It should be a pleasant spot!
Update: Cory at Property Lines has more info on the Dodd's Townhouse renovation. One of the investors owns Binkley's but the restaurant will be called Meridian. It will nice to see a place for Chef Dan Dunville to land -- tentative name: Meridian. Tentative open date: September.
Kinkaid's Meats Stayeth: And to squelch another rumor, this one from Kinkaid's owner Dave Rollins: Kinkaid's Meat Market is staying put. At least as far he knows. They've been on Illinois since the building was built in 1936. Interesting tidbit? Their massive cooler had to be installed first and the building the built around it. And look for the neat cooler windows. Back in the old days, people actually wanted to see their meat being cut.
