56th St. Fish Market Open

Well, we all know how rumors can be -- often wrong! Christy Speer over at Indianapolis Monthly's The Dish checks out the rumor that 56th St. Fish Market is closed/closing and says GM Amy Davidson says they're not going anywhere. Hmmm. I'm not saying where I heard it but it was a pretty credible industry source. Sounds like they're still around if you're looking for fish on the east side.

is it always hard being wrong, or is it harder being wrong first?

HELLO MY NAME IS AMY DAVIDSON. I AM THE GENERAL MANAGER AT THE 56TH STREET FISH MARKET. IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS I HAVE RECEIVED SEVERAL PHONE CALLS STATING THAT THERE IS A RUMOR GOING AROUND THAT THE STORE IS CLOSED OR CLOSING. AND I JUST WANT TO POST A COMMENT THAT WE ARE NOT CLOSED AND WE ARE NOT CLOSING. MIDWEST SEAFOOD YES IS CLOSING BUT WE ARE A SEPERATE COMPANY AND THEIR SITUATION DOES NOT AND WILL NOT EFFECT THE 56TH STREET.
I WANT TO PERSONALY SAY SORRY FOR ANY PROBLEMS THAT CUSTOMERS MAY HAVE HAD WHILE SHOPPING AT THE MARKET. I PERSONALY STRIVE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF OUR CUSTOMERS. I BELEIVE NOW THAT THE MARKET IS DOING A GREAT JOB, WE NOW HAVE THE STAFF THAT WE NEED AND THEY CARE ABOUT THE STORE THE CUSTOMERS AND THEY ALL HAVE GREAT ATTITUDES WHICH WAS SOMETHING WE WERE LACKING JUST A FEW MONTHS AGO.
SO I'M JUST ASKING TO GIVE THE MARKET A CHANCE AND PLEASE IGNORE THE RUMORS THAT ARE FLOATING AROUND.
THE 56TH STREET MARKET IS OPENED AND FLOURISHING, AND THE WHOLE STAFF ARE HERE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF ALL CUSTOMERS WITH FRESH,HIGH QUILITY FISH.

Amy, thanks for posting. While I can't personally enthuse about the market myself after the lost order dinner party debacle, I hope things get better.

I JUST WANT TO SCREAM WHEN I HEAR THINGS LIKE THIS! But I'll try to refrain.

I'm guessing this IS however the "Premiere Fish Market in a major city" which is listed for sale with business brokers.
