No Joke -- Another Starbucks Shooting

News stations report that last night, around 8:00 p.m., three armed robbers entered the Starbucks at College and 30th and demanded purses and valuables from customers. Apparently, there was a scuffle and one patron was shot. It's a dicey location for upscale coffee and I think in the future, I'll move quick business coffees to Mo' Joe Coffee just a bit further downtown -- or even the Starbuck's at 38th and Meridian, which amazingly, hasn't yet seen this kind of violence. This is the second shooting/robbery at the 30th/College Starbucks in two years or so. (Via Advance Indiana)

Just one more reason to visit local independent coffee shops instead of Big Chain Coffee.

However, this is just a sign of a bigger problem, not necessarily a problem with Starbucks.

If it's amazing that the Starbucks at 38th and Meridian hasn't seen a similar incident, it might also surprise some that a Starbucks in Noblesville was the scene of an armed robbery in February.

Perhaps divesting from far-North suburban areas would also be a good idea?

I would like to point out that while the starbuck's at 38th & Meridian hasn't been robbed, a person was struck by stray gunfire in the parking lot last year.

Fact: large cities have violence.
