Ribs, Bocuse D'or, and Alice Waters

Had a terrific evening last night previewing some the menus for Indianapolis' restaurant week, Devour Downtown, which starts next week! More on the best tips and dishes to come. In the meantime, here's a little snack to tide you over:

An Orgy of Meat: Looking for a preview of Labor Day Weekend's Rib Fest? The traveling carnival of meat stopped in St. Louis last weekend and Gut Check has pictures. Gorey, saucy, rib porn pictures.

Best of the Best: Thomas Keller and Daniel Boulud are heading the culinary advisory team for the US qualilfying round of the Bocuse D'or. This international culinary competition draws the best chefs in the world and each country sends a team of one chef and one assistant. The advisory panel is a culinary who's who. Applications are online. US qualifying rounds are in Orlando, September 26 and 27. [Via Grub Street]

Mark Your Calendars: I'd heard word floating around but no firm dates. Looks like things are coming together. The IMA (who seem to have their fingers in all sorts of no-arty pies these days) are bringing Alice Waters to Indy on December 3 to discuss her Edible Schoolyard initiative. Slow Food Indy and several of our best local chefs are already working to put her ideas into action. [Babelfish Tartare]
