I thought I'd put together a little thing on summer cocktails and found that I don't really know where in town to get the best mojito. What do you all think?
I'm not a big fan of the mojito myself but my wife is and she swears there isn't a decent one to be found here. The couple of bartenders I know absolutely hate making them because they say they're too labor intensive. My guess is they therefore don't put forth the effort to make it good. Good = more orders = more work = less tips.
So this isn't a mojito, but if you are looking for an amazing capirinha (which is sort of a cross between a mojito and a margarita) go no further than the Brazilian Grill at 86th and Towne. Their salad bar and service aren't even close to Fogo de Chao, although their meat is pretty good. But their frosty capirinha, with rabbit turd ice and lots of fresh lime is very refreshing and they go down WAY too easily.
St. Elmo has the best Mojito I've had in Indy ... which I guess isn't saying much. Since Fogo's caipirinha is so good, I wonder if their Mojito is good too ...
lived in A-Morgan for 10 years, Cafe Atlantico is usually top of the list for folks but I think they overdo the mint (not the flavor, just too "leafy"). Ceiba's good too. Grill from Impenema, which has the best caiprinhas in town also has a mighty fine mojito. My current mojito fave is at Cubanos in SSpring, probably the best I've had so far and darn good grub and a fantastic outdoor terrace to boot.
Although they would be even better if there was an outside area to drink them in, Lulu's mojito is pretty fabulous. Not too sweet, lots of fresh mint but not so much that you feel like you're drinking salad...

D'oh! Fixed. Thanks!
I'm pretty partial to my wife's mojitos ;)
Otherwise, I'm not sure. I definitely look forward to hearing what's out there b/c they are by far my fave summer drink.

Kyle Ragsdale makes a pretty mean mojito for his open studio nights, but I haven't found one outside of that.
Ha! I will *so* track down Kyle for a taste. I'm overdue to catch up with him.
re: Caipirhnas -- Brazilian Grill's are OK, but Fogo wins that one hands down.
You could have Old Style poured over rabbit turd ice and it would taste good.
My wife makes the worlds best mojito. Come on over!!!!!!
Since Bahama Breeze left I've yet to find a decent Mojito in this town.
"rabbit turd ice"
LOL, thats a new one.
