Sharing the Wealth: Fence Baskets

Do you have too much garden bounty? A friend in Berkeley mentioned her neighborhood's solution. Homes with gardens attach a basket to their fence. Garden owners put extra produce -- corn, zucchini, tomatoes, anything that would go to waste -- in the baskets for people to help themselves. It makes for a great walk for folks without the space or time to garden and ensures that fresh produce gets eaten. Try an old picnic basket or a wooden basket with a folding lid. What a great way to share!
