My First Time -- Glass Closures

Why won't the foil cutter work? Mutter, mutter. Off comes the plastic "capsule" revealing a squarish cap. As I twisted, I'm thinking, this is the oddest screw cap I've ever seen! Except it wasn't -- the cap was the metal top covering the new glass closure. My first sighting in the wild!

These glass closures -- Vino-Seal or Vino-Lok -- from Alcoa are the next evolution in an industry trying to solve the problem of traditional cork. This one, on a bottle of Peter Rosback's Sineann is functional -- and unlike a Stelvin closure -- still gives the user the experience of elegance. The glass stopper looks nice.

It can be a bit tricky to remove. But who said wine is perfect?
