I have two recommendations. Both are located in German Village in the southern part of the downtown area. First, Schmidt's Sausage Haus is a great german restaurant that makes their own sausages (including a spicy kielbasa called the bahama mama) and jumbo delicious creme puffs. They also have craft beer on the Menu. Second, Katzinger's Delicatessen located just off I-70. This deli has a great selection of their own handmade breads, artisan and import cheese and meats, and a tasty food menu to boot. Enjoy.

A friend of mine introduced me to the giant burgers at the Thurman Cafe several years ago - http://www.thethurmancafe.com/

Bring your appetite, if you dare :)

Check out Columbus Underground. Here is their dining link:

They've got a discussion board that should be able to connect you with local food freaks. Probably not your final stop on the web, but the best starting point.

North of downtown there's a great middle eastern cafe called Alladin. I think it's on High Street.

We live in Columbus and one of our favorite spots is the Elevator, right downtown. Great micro-brews, steaks and fish dishes. It's an old bank building with lots of atmosphere.

My in-laws live there, and if you are looking for fine dining, try M, Rosendale's or Handke's (even though I think Chef Handke has maybe retired since the last time I was there). I haven't been to Rosendale's, but my my mother in law highly recommends it. Been quite a few years since I was at M, but supposed to still be good. And for more casual (we often get it carry out when we are visiting), try Figlio's wood fired pizza. The wild mushroom one is awesome.

I know I'm a bit tardy to this conversation, but I second Schmidt's. Sooo good. Of course, don't forget Grater's, a great regional ice cream place (I know Graeters has shops in Columbus and Cincinnati).
