Jonathan Wright Calls It Quits

I've been sitting on this news for a week, but since Susan Guyett broke it in the Star over the weekend, I just had to dish. After much fanfare and after a mere 6 months, "celebrity chef" Jonathan Wright is bailing out as head chef at the Conrad in Indianapolis. (Notice how they never refer to it as the "five star" Conrad anymore.) Oh, where to begin.

The Conrad seems to think it's enough that Wright has infused the staff with his own personal style and "essence". Uh, yeah. Right. Uh-huh. If it's the essence we've seen so far from not-ready-for-prime-time Restaurant Du Soleil, it's not really a legacy they want to keep. After the drubbing Indianapolis Monthly gave them in their most recent issue, I'd say fixing service issues is job one. And now they have to look for a new executive chef. Wright's last day is June 14. Code blue! We need a new "celebrity chef" at the Conrad. Stat! Hey, I hear Rocco Dispirito is looking for job.
