Early Word: Arthur Black Wins US Title

A late (and very excited) text message last night from Arthur Black had a lot of exclamation points -- and for good reason! Black, a master's candidate with the Master Court of Sommeliers and education specialist at National Wine and Spirits, is coming home with first place for the Chaine des Rotisseurs' National Young Sommelier competition. He placed third last year. The competition has been running in Las Vegas over the past few days and he was sponsored by our local bailliage (chapter). More details upon his return. Incredible work, Arthur. Congratulations!

And all you wine specialists and chefs, don't forget the Level 1 Introductory Master Court exam in Indianapolis, September 8 and 9. Applications and registration information online.

So Arthur took first place. While I am quite happy for him, I am not that surpised. He works harder in his oenological studies and is more passionate about wine than anyone I know. CONGRATULATIONS ARTURO NEGRO!!!
