Feed Me/Drink Me Flickr Group

Hey, kids, a user in the Feed Me/Drink Me photo group at Fickr has issued a challenge, one that's especially perfect for grilling and salad season! What are you going with all those fantastic meats and vegetables from Goose, The Market? So far, we have some pretty sexy pork chops. Join the discussion and add your own pictures!

This is off topic, but have you heard if Peterson's quality is still good with Karl Benko gone? I am considering taking my husband there for his birthday. It is between them and Buggs Temple.

Carrie, I don't have much advice for you. I haven't eaten at Peterson's since Karl left. I like Brad Gates' food at Bugg's a *lot* but the service is still...well, buggy.

Thanks Braingirl. If not either of these options, what WOULD you recommend?

Not really knowing what you're looking for, I'd say:

Steaks -- Mo's, Ruth's Chris
Red Mix Fix -- Fogo is pretty fun
Elegant -- Oakley's, L'ex, Oceanaire

More casual: RBistro, Meridian (reserve a table on the deck if the weather is good)

That's just off the top of my head. (I chose L'ex for my own upcoming birthday dinner.)

Going off topic of the off topic...

Has anyone heard where Joseph from Petersons has landed since he left a couple of months ago?

I had some delicious bone in chops pork chops from The Goose marinated in a homemade teriyaki over memorial day. Best chops I have found in Indy in a long time.

We just dined at Bugg's on Friday. The food was great, but our server was incredibly condescending. He felt the need to explain what Stilton cheese was and assumed that I would like a filet cooked medium well! I felt insulted, though maybe it was just me. My husband graduated at the top of his class from culinary school, but he is so laid back that he is seldom riled by anyone or anything. Even he became annoyed. But, again...the food was great!

Hi Braingirl. Thanks for the suggestions. Frankly, I don't know exactly what I am looking for either, but it's my husband's 40th, so I would like it to be special. I've been all over the place with ideas, even thinking about going to Tallent. I have settled on Fogo, I think, because that will be something fun and different, yet he can still get his meat fix. Maybe we will save Buggs for a day when I won't care as much if the service is spotty.

I had a nice lunch at Creation Cafe yesterday with Brad's pulled pork.

I figured you already had Tallent on your list! At the very least, Fogo will be a fun experience and they have a good wine list.
