D'Vine Moving ... Again

You people are quick. For those of you who've emailed me, here's a port to Cory's post from Friday that D'Vine, A Wine Bar will be moving. Again. (They were originally at Woodfield Crossing. Before Premier imploded, it was scheduled to be demolished and redeveloped into the new Venu mall.) D'Vine is currently in the former Vizion/Cibo restaurant space next to Houseworks.

Word is that they'll be closing at the end of the month to move into the King's Image building on the northside of Castleton mall (near Bucco di Beppo, Cory says, I'm not visualizing it.) What else do I know? Bennett Ackerman has a lot of experience in the restaurant business in this market, and D'Vine seems to have a pretty loyal clientele thanks primarily to Tony Fese's visibility in the wine community. There is a market for what they do on the north side and my guess is they'll survive this move just fine. (Disclaimer: This is pure speculation on my part based on the fact that I know nothing more about this than Cory reported.)

Only one piece of odd news: They'll be closing at the end of October, but they've set no new opening date.

In the mean time, if you're looking for a wine bar fix head down to Fountain Square and pay a visit to Deano's.

There are many other options than Deano's if you're downtown including Mass Ave Wine Shop and various restaurants. All fairly limited when it comes to selection and wines-by-the-glass.

Last time I went to D'Vine for dinner with a group of about ten, the place was almost empty and the service was so terrible that we won't go back, no matter what building they're in. Our ten entrees were brought out over the course of 90 minutes. NINETY. I understand five or maybe ten minutes, but come on, now.

The food and service at D'Vine are horrible. Staff is more interested in socializing amongst themselves than taking care of customers. Deano's list is boring, and all he can say about wine is it's "good juice".

The King's Image was a clothing store in the shopping center on the northeast corner of 82nd and Dean Road, just east of where the late, great Wine Gallery once was and just west of where Penzey's was until recently.

Word has it that a new wine shop will soon be moving into the same shopping center....

D'vine is great and I hope the move is successful.
