Openings, Closings, and Talking Turkey
**November 4, look for Tulip Noir to open at the Old Towne Shopping Center on west 86th. Owner Dina Romay-Sipe will specialize in breakfast, lunch and an extensive tea menu. Carlos Salazar, a former line cook at Oakely's Bistro, will run the kitchen. Get there Monday-Friday since they're not open weekends.
**Is the end near for Dunaway's? No official word yet, but I've heard the same rumors you have about the venerable south side landmark. Sounds like they've had a tough financial go in recent weeks. Sadly, they're not the only fine dining restaurant we hear is struggling with the downturn. Update: Owner Jeff Dunaway denies the rumors are true and says they are absolutely not closing.

Thanks for posting about Tulip Noir...they are really close to me. I hope they plan to open during weekends at some point. Us working-class folk only get to enjoy a casual breakfast on the weekends.
I also noticed that the Russian Tea House sign is gone and in it's place is Pearl Bistro. Have you heard anything about this new eatery? There's a review on yelp.com, but that's about it.
I wonder if the post you had a few weeks ago about an Indy restaurant for sale was for Dunaway's?
Kids, thing are slow. Maybe more than slow when it comes to upscale eateries. The economic situation is tenuous, at best, and perhaps even scary. The folks with the disposable income to patronize fine dining are the same folks who are watching their investments more carefully than ever. They have put spending of all kinds on hold. And, methinks, it is not going to get better any time soon.
Let's not fan the flames with rumor and guessing...
