Monday Morning: Pork and Nouveau
Oops. Didn't mean to go 5 days without a post. Just got, um, busy. Yeah. That's it. OK, truthfully? The first few days of cold rain made me hunker down. The bright spot? I defrosted a container of pesto from the summer and it still tasted garden fresh. I'd forgotten how good it was -- garlic, pine nuts, and sweet basil. Perfect on French bread toasted with butter and grated parmesan.
But in an effort to catch up, here are a few tidbits from around the blog world you might find of interest. And I'll see you at the L'ex Burgundy/Beaujolais dinner on Thursday.
*Locally Grown Gardens Pork: I'm ashamed to say that I owe Chef Ron of Locally Grown Gardens a phone call, but when I do talk to him, I'll get more of the scoop on his Saturday hog roasts. They've been roasting hogs on weekends and now they're serving up pulled pork, macaroni and cheese, and even Hoosier sugar creme pie on weeknights from 4:30-9 p.m.
Beaujolais Day is Coming: Sure, at least some of it will be in PET bottles. Still won't get me excited, especially with the prices I've seen so far this year. (I don't know who will carry the Mommessin line locally.) [Wine Canine]
