$1 Million Dollar Valentines Day?

Happy Valentine's DayImage by Darwin Bell via Flickr

You'd never think the fine dining restaurant segment has been hit by the economy based on the numbers I'm hearing for tomorrow. Forget flowers. We hear reservations are through the roof -- and many local faves have expanded hours and added seatings. Elements, Meridian and most other local fine dining standbys are reporting full bookings all day. Fogo (rumor has it) has 1300 people booked for eating meat tomorrow. Ruth's Chris has 800 coming for the day.

While many who dine out often say they're cooking in tomorrow night, here's a toast to a much needed spring boost to the local restaurant business. Happy Valentine's Day, indeed.

My dinner was excellent, so I thought I would give it a shout out here. Not the most "up scale" dining experience, but my lamb chops were cooked perfectly at Hella's. Good service and good food, and it was packed.

I have to give nods to Fogo. We had 9pm dinner reservations & they got us in 1/2 early even though they were packed (and we had an 8 person party). Service was excellent & food station never was close to empty, again, even though they were packed. We wrapped up 2 1/2 hours later and they were still going strong. Wonderful dinner!
