Open Thread: Dreaming of Spring Food

It's snowing. Again. Don't know about you folks, but I'm just about ready for spring! Fresh spring vegetables, delicate fruit, new cheeses, herbs, and baby animals. What favorite foods are you looking forward to for spring? What will be the first thing you make when the summer farmer's markets are in full swing?

Jam!! I cannot wait for spring fruit to get back into jam production. I love to make small batch jams with local fruit. This is such a rough time of the year!!

I am so there with you. I cannot wait for spring (and summer) for food...morels, soft shell crab...and tomatoes from my garden.

I just got this visual of someone eating a lamb in the middle of a field of wildflowers (ala Altered States). But really? My answer? Rhubarb! And greens!

I just skipped spring and went straight to late summer at Locally Grown Gardens. The grilled salmon with baby greens, fresh orange and grapefruit segments, citrus vinaigrette, and spicy pepper was cooked to perfection and the best salmon I've ever had in Indiana. I thought they just had produce and I can't believe that I only learned today that they serve lunch and dinner. Yum!

Snow might be cold, but it's the purest form of Hell there has ever been, aside from "the restaurant that shant be named" of which I am a loyal employee.

I so wish I could travel to try some of the marvelous food I read about here....

I'm back online also, after my brief and painful hiatus, just wanted to let you know!
