Preserving Jars -- Not Just for Grandmother

Speaking of those great metal bale jars…More uses I've found for them lately: (Hey, give me a break, it's been a long winter):

  • Preserved lemons
  • Marinated goat cheese(with fresh herbs, pepper corns, sundried tomato, etc)
  • Boozy Cherries
  • Thai pickled cabbage
  • Marinated spiced olives
  • Marinated peaches in brandy

So easy to do in any sizes and they've become my favorite things to give away. Throw in a stylish box of cool labels (my favorite, Lotta Jansdotter from At Home in the City), and you have an easy gift. Not your grandmother's preserves anymore!
