Barcelona Update: May 15

Speaking of chains that may be slated for Indianapolis, one mini-chain concept that is opening soon and that you have heard about here and elsewhere is Barcelona Tapas, which owner Mike Johnson now informs me is scheduled to open on May 15. The crew is actually in the place from Tuesday through Thursday each week getting things ready, so I'm hoping to go down there and get a look before they open. Looking at the menu at their St. Louis location, it's clear that this place mainly serves up tapas classics--gazpacho, mussels, jamon, sausages--and Spanish favorites--paella, sea bass with Romesco sauce, bacalao. But it's definitely a cuisine that Indy has lagged behind in, and anywhere you can get tortilla Espanola is just fine with me. Stay tuned for more on this place.

We're really looking forward to this place opening. It's funny that they're working all the way from Tuesday to Thursday! WOW! :)

When I lived in St. Louis, this was THE happy hour spot. More known for that than their food, but the food was good too. I love tapas, and hope that soon Indy folks will know that I'm saying tapas and not "topless" as they seem to think more often than not now.

Really looking forward to it, but concerned about their location in terms of an after work spot because of parking.

Deano, of Deano's Vino, is Managing Partner. He assures us at Hoosier Beer Geek that only the finest beers will be chosen to be placed on tap (can't tell you anything about the menu, but the beer is what's important to me!), even saying that Delirium Tremens would be on tap. WOW!!
