Q: Restaurant for Sale?

A reader writes to ask if I have any idea who this "Upscale Restaurant and Bar" for sale in downtown Indy might be. Anyone know?

High Volume Upscale Bar & Restaurant - one of Indy’s top destinations! 3 way Liquor license. Prime downtown location. Lot’s of amenities. For 2007, the business had gross revenue of more than $4.5MM and EBITDA of $635,000, with 40% Food; 28% Liquor; 32% Other.

Mo's?

I think my guess of Mo's is correct, but after reading that again I wonder what the heck the 32% "other" in the revenues could be?

Trust me, its not Mo's. They are a chain restaurant that is very successful. They would never sell only one unit. Think more along the lines of an independent.

Speaking of independents, I had a late dinner at Zing a few nights ago, and it was pretty damn good. If you can put aside some overtly blatant chicago restaurant rip-offs, you can have a pretty good meal. I had 4 "small plate" (not so small) and a martini and my bill came to about $65 with tip.

Hey with gas prices the way they are, it saves me tons of cash to get my Chorizo stuffed dates wrapped in Bacon fix.

Hmmm... Trying to think of independents that might have revenue in that range...

Dunaway's? Not really "downtown". Elements?

I wonder if it isn't one of the perennially for sale S. Meridian restaurant/clubs -- which might explain the "other" if there were club activity or entertainment involved.

Ohhh... That makes a lot of sense, Braingirl. I see where that "brain" comes from in your name!

I am thinking the other could be t shirt's and the like a la Hard
Rock. But maybe it is prostitution. I dunno.

I don't think Mo's is the one you're looking for. Rumors on the street say it's Scholars Inn that's for sale.

Just a quick thought, if it is listed as "other", it might be catering, or off-premise sales.

How about 14 West? They have rooms they rent which could account for the "other."

My immediate first thought was Scholars Inn. I heard it took a real hit after being closed for so long and then finally reopening .... people found other places they wanted to go and didn't come back.

Other thoughts: 6 or Ice on South Meridian.
